She is not less than you …

Who is She ???

Is she ordinary or extra-ordinary ? Standing out or lost in the race of life ?One amongst us or one more/less than us ?

Did you ever stop and ask this question to yourself when you get someone everyday to your house ,at times twice a day and at times the whole day she is with you taking care of you household.

She knows what you took last night in you dinner when she cleans your utensil. She knows what you wore last night when she washes you cloth. She understands your preferences in breakfast ,she understands how much sugar you need in your coffee. She dreams of herself in your fancy cloths when she irons it for you. She dreams of her kids playing with same expensive toys when she practically takes care of your kids as second mother.

But what she gets is few leftover rotis, few old toys which your kids discard and few old cloths which you want to throw but the thought of charity passes your mind.

I am sure, you know her now …We call her ‘Bai’,’Naukrani’,Kamwali’ ec cetera and discuss meri wali ke nakhare blah blah …Why we treat them with disrespect and in a sub human manner? Why they are either ignored or treated as invisible? A lot of people believe that, simply because they can afford house help, that they can afford to treat them like dirt. It is absolutely disheartening when I see a family enjoying a lovely fine-dine experience in a posh restaurant while the maid is made to hover around and tend to the toddler; she is not included.

Don’t you think she deserves more than this? Don’t you think she is as integral part of our life as our family, work and others?

Can we take a pause and thank her not just by giving her a tip or baksish on Diwali or on our special occasion but everyday when she shows up her face in our beautiful abode. Can we be little more warm?

She is no different from you. You hired her because you are unable to cope up with all the work that needs to be done at home. She needs to be praised and appreciated for that. Your relationship with your maid is exactly the same as that between you and your boss. The nature of work may differ, but the relationship is essentially the same.

Can you do something to bring her to mainstream? Can you make her feel little special? Yes, you can…Yes ,we can…And I did…Just by making her the face of my brand ADiBha and ADiBha She Vision.Because I know she defines empowerment is true sense just by taking care of not only her family but my family as well and many like mine…

How amazing it was to get her ready, applying those eyeliners and blush ,draping her those six yards because I know who is she and I want everyone to know she is one amongst us ,not less than us …

She is my “Nilu”
An initiative of ADiBha She Vision …
